I think the bold primaries lend a Latino flavor to this painting. Don't know if that's my Southwestern background coming out or her Hispanic heritage or just coincidence. I'm a big fan of Native American artist John Nieto.
There's a saying that teachers are the only people who loose sleep over other people's kids. This kiddo had a rough time of it between her eighth grade and freshman years. I've since lost track of her but I remember that at the time, working on this painting was a way to work through some of my worrying.
