To inspire future teachers in the arts, The Indigenous Cultures Institute (ICI) was invited to share a hands-on workshop at The University of Texas at Austin. We created a mini-mock camp of ICI's summer arts camp where college students would participate and learn about different teaching methods as well as educating them about how to  intergrate  indigenous cultures and practices in their future classrooms. As a leader of the visual arts portion of the camp, my colleague and I created a 10 minute lesson on the elements. We talked about the importance of creating a studio environment for the artists and relating every lesson to all other arts practices in the camp. Integration is a big part of the camp, including indgienous history, poetry, music, dance and theatre. Here you will find some pictures from the workshop as well as the flier used to advertise the event.
