Some of my expectations going into this internship were to obtain experience working with children who might have physical and emotional disabilities as patients at the hospital. I hoped to gain some type of therapy practice as an art educator in a community setting and explore this new field that I am very interested in. Some personal goals include to attend graduate school for art therapy. I very much believe in art as an everyday activity for everyone and a resource crucial for self-expression and identity development, especially in growing children. Visual culture and art education have a big effect on the development of identity. “Education is a process of identity formation because we change as we learn; our learning changes our subjective selves.” My time at Dell helped me narrow down my personal career goals and further strengthen my passion of art/art making as a powerful tool in our society.
