By analyzing the methods and goals of a wide variety of contemporary art practices–from "high art" to community-based work to D.I.Y. culture–art education curriculum can become more exciting, more relevant to students' lives, and will more accurately represent the range and complexity of the value and uses of the arts in a democratic society.
My goal as a writer/researcher/artist is to contribute ideas, methods and examples of art education activities and projects that teachers can use to engage students in critical, pleasurable and joyful learning.
