Power of Art Conference 2016

Through a competitive application process I was selected to attend this conference hosted by the Lab School of Washington DC.  This was an invaluable experience to collaborate with educators from across the country and learn from a premier private school who incorporate art infusion throughout their curriculum.

  • Responsible for grades Pre-K through 8th totaling over 600 students.  There are three classes within each grade which meet with me once a week.  Class sizes average 22 students.

Kiley Middle School

  • Responsible for 180 students a semester, grades 6th through 8th, using hour and a half block scheduling.  Class sizes average upwards of thirty students in an urban setting.
  • Obtain art supplies through coordinating purchasing with district art department head.

  • Responsible for grades 6th through 8th totaling near 300 students.  There are four classes within each grade which met with me twice a week.  Class sizes average 25 students.
  • Developed lesson plans in accordance toMassachusetts’ visual art guidelines.

  • Effectively handled large amounts of student data and prepared grades and observations for quarterly report cards.

  • Motivated students to make academic achievements that were measured in daily formative assessments and through pre-tests and post-tests.

Walt Disney World’s Youth Education Series Program

  • Addressed groups of students for a three hour program on the history and innovations of the animation process.
  • Facilitated intriguing educational material that was aligned with national standards in the arts and language arts.

Dundee Ridge Middle School

  • Established my role as teacher in the classroom after school year had already begun, instituting classroom management and commencing regular grading.
