The internet is an amazing resource for us Art Educators but it can also be a challege finding the diamonds in the rough.  Here is a list of sites that I have found usefull. 

 

http://www.art21.org/  This is an amazing website for contemporary art.

 

 http://www.artsonia.com/museum/  The "world's largest kid art museum" online.  You can truly see student art from around the world and it is easy to participate. 

 

http://www.artlex.com/  Outstanding online art dictionary.

 

http://www.designboom.com/ This site keeps me in touch with the larger world of architecture, art, and design.

 

http://www.adbusters.org/  This is a great website for alternate views of art's role in people's lives.

 

http://www.art-is-fun.com/  Artist Thaneeya McArdle has created a colorful site full of ideas for art classes.  I even contacted her by email to tell her how my students worked with Day of the Dead art based of her work.  She emailed back and has been very supportive.

 

 http://rmarkey.blue-fox.com/  This is the webpage of Western MA artist Robert Markey.  After contacting him he came for an afternoon to visit my students and discussed his work.  A talented and compasionate individual.

 

http://gallery.mac.com/ejnelson  Amazing collage artist who I discoverd in Florida.  

 

http://www.jeffkoons.com/  Fun contemporary artist who does larger than life sculptures of kid friendly subject matter.

 

http://www.obeygiant.com/ Website of one of my favorite artists, Shepard Fairey.  If you do not recognize the term obey giant then check it out.  

 

http://www.fundred.org/  Great website to introduce students to art being used for social causes.  I sent hundreds of "fundreds" to their cause but they still need more.

 

http://www.artforsmallhands.com/  Student art website set up by Julie Voigt, a teacher with over 25 years of experience.

 

http://www.princetonol.com/groups/iad/lessons/lessons.html  Very usefull site for a variety of art lessons.

 

http://www.seeklogo.com/  A website full of logos.  I used it for an art project of logo designing.

 

http://www.arminmersmann.com/  Amazing artist who works in pencil. Armin Mersmann

 

http://www.fredericback.com/  A useful website that offers art lesson ideas using the artwork of Frederic Back.

 

http://www.graphicclassroom.org/  A website for incorporating comic book art into the classroom.

 

http://artatstark.blogspot.com/  A website of continuously growing student art projects.  

 

http://stickerobot.com/ This is a cool site for creating high quality vinal stickers of your art work and they feature eclectic artists selling their own stickers.
