Teaching in a program where I work with students that come from a variety of backgrounds has provided me with a rich and varied level of student work. Our resident undergraduates in the Art Education major at California State University, Long Beach have a depth and breadth of undergraduate art courses in one of the most rigorous art school environments on the west coast. In addition to the undergraduate Art Ed majors, we also have post-baccalaureate students in our Single-Subject Art Credential program. These students come from a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs, and with a variety of studio and non-studio majors. It is not atypical to have students with studio art, art education, non-art and masters level (MFA) graduates in our credential program. This rich blend of students has been both a challenge as well as a rewarding proposition. Student work in this section will come from this wide variety of student artists.
