Arts Week Everywhere for Indiana University

Arts Week Everywhere places a special focus on Indiana University students, whose creative energy and passion for the arts shape life in Bloomington, both on and off campus.  In 2012, a group of students and I developed and coordinated a strategic marketing plan that included apps, social media, and articles that were shared with the entire city of Bloomington, Indiana.

"For almost 30 years, Arts Week has recognized and showcased the splendid artistic talent that makes this campus and community such a special place," Interim Provost Lauren Robel said. "The superb artists who make this event memorable each year deserve our gratitude, as do the Arts Administration faculty and students whose hard work and creativity bring a direct and tangible connection between our academic mission and this celebration."

Events we marketed included:

  • Events with special student ticket initiatives, such as IU Theatre and Drama's "Cabaret," Cardinal Stage's "Bachelorette" and the Bloomington Playwrights Project's "Three Views of the Same Object."
  • Annual university performances, such as the Jacobs School of Music's opera "Candide," IU Contemporary Dance program's "Hammer and Nail" and the African American Arts Institute's Choral Ensemble and Dance Company Spring Concerts.
  • Special performances and events, such as the Jacobs School of Music's Jazz Celebration Concert and IU Cinema's Latino Film Festival.
  • AWE-sponsored projects, including 3-D projections at the Sample Gates; an interactive art exhibit of Chinese paper cuts at the IU Art Museum; a social-media-based arts scavenger hunt dubbed "Twitter Quest"; jazz improv; a steel pan concert; and a class in 18th-century dance complete with instruction on the language of fans and handkerchiefs.
