Career Goals

 

Summary: Introducing the big idea of Career goals, students learned about illustrator, Rafeal Lopez and Eric Karl who use cut paper to illustrate children’s book.  Students learned, research and picked a career they think they would like when they grow up.  They analyses and create graphs about the work force and salary.  Students then learned the basics of poetry vocab; rhyming, non-rhyming, stanza and syllable.  They create a Haiku poem about the career they choose. Students then used the technique of cut paper illustration to accompany their poem. Supportive books are also used from illustrator, Maya Christian Gonzales, and author, Francisco X. Alarcon, who create poems are about Latino community activities.
