SVDC 2019: Details, Tips, and Tools

Program Overview:  Registration cost includes tuition, Portable Studio materials and supplies, the book The Museum Experience: The Discovery of Meaning, NAEA’s advocacy gear: tote bag and luggage tag, ALL museum admissions, educator packets, some museum shop discounts, closing SVDC reception/celebration, and "surprises".  Attendees will handle all accommodations, meals, and transportation individually.

• Preliminaries: SVDC Questionnaires and detailed information will be emailed to all registered participants in April 2019 with preliminary readings/activities/updates provided in early June 2019. Participants are advised to check this SummerVision e-portfolio website frequently for updated information and contact summervisiondc@gmail.com with any questions.   NAEA reserves the right to capture images of event activities and attendees on site.  Images and written comments may be posted on the NAEA website and used in printed promotional pieces.

ACCOMMODATIONS: Check the NAEA SummerVision DC page for accommodation information   https://www.arteducators.org/events/articles/364-summervision-dc

LOCAL TRANSPORTATION: All DC learning sites are Metro-accessible. We will use Metro since downtown DC parking is extremely difficult.  Please note: We recommend all SVDC participants arrive on Monday and spend the afternoon exploring the National Gallery of Art on your own.

Professional Development Credits: Upon completion of SummerVision DC 2019, participants will receive a Certificate of Participation with 30 clock hours of professional development, as designated by NAEA.  Clock hours provided upon completion of any NAEA professional learning institute, including SummerVision, are granted for participation in an organized professional learning experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction and qualified instruction and can be used toward continuing education credit in most states. It is the responsibility of the participant to verify acceptance by professional governing authorities in their area.  Direct questions to info@arteducators.org.  Graduate credit is not available for this program.   Click here for NAEA Professional Development Statement

Planning Ahead:

Each day’s activities begin at 9:30 AM and end at 5:30 PM (except 8:30 PM on Thursday and 6:30 PM on Friday). Be prepared to walk actively and be outdoors. Comfortable shoes (a must!), sunscreen and a sunhat are recommended; You might also want to bring a folding umbrella and wrap/sweater as some museums may be cold. Bring your digital camera.
