I recently volunteered to teach a Watercolor Painting project for kids ages 6-10 at the Theodore Roosevelt Nature Sanctuary. This center cares for and rehabilitates wild birds, especially owls. They have a few screech owls, so depicting an owl was the perfect opportunity to have a creative, fund-raising event for this center. We had one of the live screech owls model for the students right in the classroom, while we drew & painted our screech owl artworks. The owl was surprisingly calm during posing, perhaps it enjoyed being famous ;)
